Simplicité
![]() ![]() Simplicité Face & Body Nutrients was launched onto the Australian market in July 1991. The organic range is made to formulae developed by Brisbane couple David and Robin Lyons. Simplicité uses nature’s purest herb, plant, flower and aromatherapy extracts and make the plant extracts freshly on the day they make the products. All herbs are analysed for pesticide or heavy metal contamination and are either organically grown, medicinal quality or wild-crafted. Some of our products include the power of Australian bush-flower essences. For many years, David Lyons, one partner of Simplicité, worked as a radiographer at the Royal Brisbane Hospital, spending a large part of his day dealing with skin diseases - many of them life-threatening, sun induced skin cancers. When he later turned his attention to nutrition and naturopathy a large number of patients began seeking him out for skin problems. David initially ran the gamut of herbal creams on the market in the quest to help his patients. In many other products he first trialled for use in his clinic he thought the levels of plant extracts were either insufficient or were made from less than the best quality herbs. Over time he set about formulating his own products using the freshest of herbal extracts prepared from organically grown, medicinal quality herbs and at the same time increasing the levels of plant extracts in the products. David's first effort was his highly popular Damask Rose Nutritive Day Cream using ingredients like apricot, carrot, calendula, chamomile, rose and sesame. David believes that it is almost as important as choosing what to put into a skin care product as what to leave out. There are also certain plant based extracts he won't use such as castor oil and some preservatives because they are potentially irritating to the skin. So Simplicité products don't contain mineral oil, lanolin, propylene glycol, silicones, alcohol, bee’s wax or any animal products and are not tested on animals. Robin Lyons, the other founding member of Simplicité, is a qualified beauty therapist, however she was far better known as Robin Parkin - Channel 9’s gracious news anchor in Brisbane in the late 80s and early 90s. One morning she woke up with an irritating red rash above her eye, which expensive creams, doctors and skin specialists failed to heal. Aware of the scrutiny of the camera lens and needing a treatment fast, she made an appointment with naturopath David Lyons, who had been recommended to her by a friend. David prescribed some herbs and recommended she use a cream he had formulated himself, which was eventually to become known as Damask Rose Day Creme. The rash disappeared overnight. |
